Gautham Vellaichamy, MD
Dr. Gautham Vellaichamy enjoys providing compassionate, comprehensive dermatologic care to patients of all ages. His clinical interests include general medical dermatology, dermatopathology, skin cancer detection and treatment, cosmetic treatments, and hair loss. With each patient, Dr. Vellaichamy’s approach is to diagnose the issue, understand what is important to that patient, and utilize diagnostic procedures, evidence-based medicine, and continuity of care to provide personalized treatment to everyone.
Dr. Vellaichamy completed his undergraduate education at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, and then earned his MD from Wayne State School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He will complete a year-long dermatopathology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA between summer of 2025 and summer of 2026 prior to returning to Pinnacle. He has presented on and published numerous papers in topics including pigmentary disorders, follicular disorders, photobiology, and in-depth molecular genomics and proteomics. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, skin of color society, and the American and International societies of dermatopathology.

Dr. Vellaichamy will be joining Pinnacle dermatology in October 2024. He was born in Maryland but grew up in south-east Michigan, and prides himself on being a Midwesterner who has adapted to the weather and the geography. He is excited to call Chicago home and continue to engage in his hobbies of trying new foods, running/hiking, attending concerts/festivals, and spending time with friends and family.
