Dysport®
Dysport® is a prescription injectable medication containing botulinum toxin type A, similar to BOTOX®. It is used for cosmetic purposes to temporarily reduce facial wrinkles and lines by blocking nerve signals in the injected muscles.
Originally approved for certain muscle spasm disorders in Europe and Asia in 1991, Dysport became available in the United States in 2009 after FDA approval for treating forehead wrinkles and frown lines. It is only the second drug approved by the FDA for wrinkle treatment. Dysport (formerly known as Reloxin) is made from the same active ingredient as BOTOX, but may provide a more natural look by relaxing wrinkles while allowing for "natural expression" in the treated areas.
The effects of Dysport® can last for several months before gradually wearing off, necessitating additional treatments to maintain results. The injectors at Pinnacle Dermatology are dedicated to helping you achieve your cosmetic goals through Dysport treatment. Schedule a cosmetic consultation today to learn more.

Dysport FAQs
Dysport blocks nerve signals in muscles, temporarily reducing muscle activity and smoothing wrinkles.
Common treatment areas include frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet.
Results are temporary, typically lasting several months.
When administered by a qualified healthcare professional, Dysport is generally safe. However, it's important to discuss medical history and potential risks with your provider.
Discomfort is usually minimal, and many providers use fine needles to enhance the experience.
BOTOX and Dysport are injectable neurotoxins used to reduce wrinkles. BOTOX (Allergan) and Dysport (Ipsen) have similar effects but differ in onset, spread, and cost. Results last about 3-4 months for both. Consult a professional for personalized advice on how to decide between the two neurotoxins.
