excisional surgery on the back

This may not be the exact look of your condition. Please confirm your diagnosis with your dermatologist.

What is it?

Under local anesthesia (numbing of the skin only), your Pinnacle dermatology provider can remove benign and malignant growths for diagnosis and treatment. The skin around the surgical site is then closed with stitches and the tissue is sent to a lab to determine pathology diagnosis and ensure removal or appropriate treatment.

Do you need this?

By examining your skin, your Pinnacle dermatology provider can determine if lesions need to be excised. Often, a superficial biopsy is performed for diagnosis before an excision is recommended.

Excisional surgery wounds are most often closed with stitches, and rarely staples.
