Dr. Fuad Muakkassa completed his undergraduate studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he majored in Natural Sciences and French and minored in Music, graduating with general and departmental honors. He then attended and received his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed his intern year at Akron General Medical Center – Cleveland Clinic.
Afterwards, he completed his Clinical Trials Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (CWRU/UHCMC) in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Muakkassa investigated treatments for skin diseases including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous lymphoma, and prurigo nodularis. He then solidified his passion for research and epidemiology by returning to Baltimore, to complete a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Muakkassa subsequently trained as a Dermatology resident at the prestigious University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, during which he was appointed Cosmetic Clinic Chief and Chief of Medical Students. He received the 2020 Psoriasis Research Award upon graduating.
