Chad A. Eckes, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Chad Eckes was most recently the Executive Vice President of Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, a leading Academic Medical Center. Chad was the executive leader of the organization’s financial turnaround from March 2014 to June 2017. During that period, Chad led the turnaround of the organization’s Finance, Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, Facilities and Human Resources departments. At the same time, the organization experienced in excess of 25% revenue growth.
Previously, Chad was the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Information Officer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), the premier center for cancer treatment. During 2005 to 2014, Chad was part of the leadership team which grew CTCA by 30x creating a national footprint.
As the CEO of Pinnacle Dermatology, Chad focuses on a handful of key approaches: be crystal clear about the company’s vision, mission, and values; lay out clear strategies; build employee engagement; focus on customer service; create a transparent environment where employees feel free and comfortable to raise any and all issues in the workplace; focus on results; and hold people accountable to those results.
Chad earned his M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and holds a master’s certificate in project management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Jose Rios, MD
Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder
Dr. Rios is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has decades of plastic surgery experience and rigorous training. His engaging personality combined with technical precision and uncompromising standards have earned him a reputation as one of the premier plastic surgeons in the area.
Dr. Rios attended Princeton University and earned his undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He later went to New York University School of Medicine to earn his medical degree, performed his residency and fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern.
Alongside Dr. Lapinski we created Pinnacle Dermatology because we love what we do. It makes going "above and beyond" - for everyone in our practice - come naturally. Over the years, we have aimed to provide the highest level of care delivered with a familiar, down-to-earth approach. We recognize that our patients, our providers, and our support team are the reason we exist, the reason we set out to create this experience, and the reason we are always striving to make it better.
Paula Lapinski, MD
Dr. Paula Lapinski is a board-certified dermatologist with an extensive medical background and an unparalleled warmth, who has built a reputation in the community for exceptional treatment of a wide range of cosmetic and medical dermatologic issues.
Dr. Lapinski earned her degree in pre-professional studies at The University of Notre Dame, graduating with Honors as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to attend Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed her internship at Evanston-Northwestern Hospital. She completed her residency in Dermatology at The University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, one of the premier programs in the country.
Dr. Lapinski's interest in patients with skin cancer led her to complete an additional year of training at The University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in the area of Mohs micrographic surgery, a specialized method of skin cancer excision and pathologic examination.
As the Co-Founder of Pinnacle Dermatology, Dr. Lapinski understands the level of care they provide is rarely matched because of the fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgery specialist team and an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon at the same practice. The combined expertise and experience enables them to create comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
Judson Larson, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO of Pinnacle Dermatology, Judson is in charge of creating sustainable finance, accounting, billing and payer contracting processes to fuel Pinnacle Dermatology’s growth strategy. He works to position Pinnacle for success by creating processes that drive behavior through performance management and accountability.
Immediately prior to joining Pinnacle Dermatology, Judson was CFO at Omni Ophthalmic Management Consultants (OOMC), a private equity backed leading healthcare provider of medical and surgical eye care in the northeast. While at OOMC, Judson led their finance transformation by implementing standard accounting and reporting processes and developing dashboards that created visibility to operational performance. These improvements cleared the path to allow Omni to quadruple in size through acquisition and expanded services.
Previously, Judson has held various finance leadership roles for several leading companies such as Community Health Systems, SunCrest Healthcare, and Asurion.
Judson earned his M.B.A. from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a B.S. in Economics from Wittenberg University.
Chief Operating Officer
Matt has 15+ years of experience in the healthcare space ranging from consulting, technology, business development to operations management where he has spent the majority of his career.
Immediately prior to joining Pinnacle Dermatology Matt Renn was oversaw Revenue Cycle operations for Edward-Elmhurst Health, a $1.4B community health system in the western suburbs of Chicago. In his 2 years at Edward-Elmhurst Health Matt led a financial turnaround delivering over $20M in bottom-line revenue cycle improvements through process redesign, vendor management, and on-going system integration efforts.
Prior to Edward-Elmhurst Health, Matt joined MethodCare, an early stage healthcare revenue cycle technology startup, as part of its leadership team. While at MethodCare Matt focused on new business development as well as built from scratch a national account management team focused on customer experience and ensuring bottom line results for its customers. The business ultimately merged with ZirMed who was backed by Sequoia Capital one of the world’s leading venture capital firms.
Earlier in his career Matt spent 8 years at Accretive Health, a Revenue Cycle Operations Management Company, where he led operations at multiple clients as well at Accenture, a global management consulting and professional services firm.
Chief Business Development Officer
JoAnn Wagner is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with physicians and external partners to achieve company growth through acquisitions and strategic partnerships. She joined Pinnacle on February 5, 2018.
JoAnn has had a robust career in healthcare including senior roles in corporate development, sales, project management, and marketing. She has worked for both global and small, local companies and enjoys strategizing to achieve sustainable growth and development.
Prior to joining Pinnacle Dermatology, JoAnn was Vice President of Business Development for a boutique healthcare-focused investment bank where she was responsible for sourcing proprietary acquisition opportunities for the firm’s clients, assisting with due diligence, and deal closure.
Wagner has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Cum Laude) from Ripon College, and is located at Pinnacle Dermatology’s corporate headquarters in Lombard, Illinois.
Christy Katzfey, MBA, CPA
Chief Marketing Officer
Christy Katzfey is a strategic marketing leader with 15+ years of experience in the health care, higher education, retail, ecommerce, automotive and foodservice industries. She is responsible for defining the Pinnacle brand strategy, growing patient demand and improving marketing channel performance amongst the various key audiences. She joined Pinnacle Dermatology in March of 2019.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Christy was the Senior Director of Brand Strategy and Digital Marketing at DeVry University where she was responsible for refining the organization’s marketing strategy and brand positioning as well as optimizing digital channel UX, SEO, SEM and overall inquiry and conversion performance.
Christy’s healthcare experience includes the brand marketing lead role at Cadence Health (now a part of Northwestern Medicine) where she led the development and launch of the new health system brand including development of the positioning, naming and identity when two regional health systems merged. She also led the advertising, creative, media, social, sponsorship and consumer insights functions in this role.
Katzfey has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Illinois and is also a CPA. She is located at Pinnacle Dermatology’s corporate headquarters in Lombard, Illinois.
Marcia Siguenza, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Chief Human Resources Officer
Marcia has 20 years of experience as a Human Resources professional with 17 of those years on the healthcare arena. Marcia joined the Pinnacle Dermatology team May of 2019. She is responsible for oversight of all HR functions, with a specific focus on Pinnacle Dermatology being an employer of choice in this competitive employment market.
Marcia’s healthcare experience primarily comes from 16 years at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush where she developed and implemented the HR processes and procedures as the first HR professional for the organization.
Marcia has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Wright State University and a MBA from Xavier University. Marcia also holds Certifications as a Senior Professional of Human Resources and a Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional.
Tim Birdsall, ND
Chief Information Officer
Dr. Tim Birdsall comes to Pinnacle Dermatology from Cancer Treatment Centers of America where he served in numerous roles in his over 20-year career there including Senior Vice President of Information Services, Chief Medical Information Officer, Vice President of Integrative Medicine and National Director of Naturopathic Medicine. Tim was also a member of the National Advisory Council for the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine from 2007 to 2012. Prior to joining Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Tim spent 8 years as a Technical Director at Thorne Research. Tim joined the Pinnacle Dermatology team in May of 2019, and is responsible for all information technology functions. Tim's medical background makes him a great resource in information technology because he is uniquely positioned to be able to translate clinical processes and needs into technical requirements for the business.
Tim has a Bachelor's degree in General Science from Grace College and a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree from Bastyr University.
